Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
We are blown away by the outpouring of support and awareness that took place last month. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and many of our local schools decided to raise awareness by having gold out days and many raised funds for our foundation. We would like to thank the following schools for their support: Lincoln Trail Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, East Hardin Middle School, Central Hardin High School and John Hardin High School. These schools raised a combined total of $3,161.30 for the Addison Jo Blair Foundation. We are so appreciative and thank everyone who wore gold and donated. :)

Addison Jo Blair
Addison's 15th Birthday was on March 25th. We celebrated her day like we do every year with balloons and new flowers at her grave. We sure miss Addison but also know that one day we will have a wonderful party together in Heaven. Until then, we will continue to celebrate her life and her legacy here on earth.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month...
The awareness childhood cancer is getting from our community and schools is absolutely amazing! We are blown away by the outpouring of love and support that is being shown for all the warriors who are currently battling, have battled, and have become angels, like our precious Addison. This means the world to us to see so much awareness being raised. Continued prayers for Damarie Lyons' family and Qunicy Sweat's family..

We are blessed with Addison's brother, Brandt, and sister, Brynlee, to help us get through these tough anniversaries. 8th Annual Addison Jo Blair 5K
The 8th Annual Addison Jo Blair 5K is scheduled for Saturday, May 19th at 8:00 am. Registration is open at www.active.com.
When the Addison Jo Blair 5K began in 2011 it was done by several wonderful ladies who decided to put on a 5K to raise funds for our family as Addison was in the fight of her life battling cancer. Addison was given a race shirt, the #1 race bib and a goody bag that we hung in her hospital room. It was a wonderful event that brought so many together to show their support for our precious Addison and our family.
When Addison passed and our family began the Addison Jo Blair Foundation we knew that the 5K was the event we wanted to focus on and call our own. Our foundation board has ran this event for the past 7 years and we have had a tremendous amount of support whether it be in sponsorship's, participants or community members helping us out on race day. We truly appreciate everyone who has been a part of making this event run so smoothly over the past 8 years. As a board we feel that it is now time for this event to come to an end and so this will be our last Addison Jo Blair 5K event.
This is not the end to the Addison Jo Blair Foundation as we will continue our efforts of raising funds for kids with cancer, assisting with the needs of the Addison Jo Blair Cancer Center at Norton Children’s Hospital and doing all we can to help raise awareness for childhood cancer. We will still be working to raise funds to help these families who are going through such a tough journey.
We would love to see all those who can make it and be a part of this great event at our last 5K on Saturday, May 19th.
Thanks and God Bless!

Very Exciting Month
This has been a very busy and exciting month for the AJB Foundation. The 2nd Annual Addison Jo Blair 5K Run/Walk was definitely a HUGE success! There were 608 registered participants and we raised $27,259.93 Wow! Thank you so much for all of the sponsors, participants, donors, volunteers and our foundation committee. A lot of work went in to putting the event together and we truly appreciate each and every one of you who helped make it a success! We are working on uploading all the pictures from the race to a site that will be accessible from the homepage. We are hoping they will be up within the next week. :)
There has been alot happening at Kosair Children's Hospital as well. Yesterday we got to be a part of a very exciting day for Kosair Children's Hospital. The Addison Jo Blair Cancer Care Center was ranked 16th in U.S. News and World Report that was just released. This is a huge accomplishment and we are very proud of all of the staff that work so hard each and everyday. This ranking was out of 178 hospitals in the country. Also, the Addison Jo Blair Cancer Center renovation started yesterday. In approximately 6 weeks the unit will be back up and running with a new name and a new and improved look. :) Another piece of exciting news is that in September a new oncologist will be joining the Kosair team. This oncologist specializes in neuroblastoma, the cancer that Addison had, and brings with him an impecable background on new neuroblastoma research. We can't wait to meet him once he arrives.
All of you, who have supported Addison, our family, and the Addison Jo Blair Foundation are responsible for many of the amazing things mentioned above. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!! God Bless.

Legacy of a Smile
Here is a poem written by Mike Kinney that we would like to share:
Her smiling face is the symbol
To win the fight of fights
We'll always have it in our thoughts
Throughout the days and nights
That make the weeks and months
That add up the years
That will provide all the cures
And take away the fears and tears
We know she kepts that smile
Through the suffering and the pain
With every major setback
And with every little gain
Spirtual, strong and thoughtful
Wise way beyond her age
Walking her yellow brick road in Heaven
Where that smile is all the rage
Now she will be our conscience
Against these cancers--such a crime
HELPING KIDS IN NEED
ONE SMILE AT A TIME

Addison's Journey began 1 year ago from today
It was a year ago today that we headed up to Kosair's with the fear that something might be terribly wrong with our Addison. A year ago tomorrow evening, we heard the words that would change our lives forever. We have struggled these past 7 months since Addison's passing, but we have been dreading the days and months starting with today, in which each day will be a new anniversary of that incredible journey. We have been comforted in many, many ways these past months and we know God will get us through this, but we can already see how difficult this is going to be this first go around. We miss you Addison so much, but we know you are in a far better place than this world. And we know you have been watching over us, it's just a huge struggle living in this world without you in it. Addison, we will be remembering and reliving your heroism, courage, selflessness, and love for others over the next months. We love you so much!

Addison's Tombstone
We are so excited to let everyone know that Addison's tombstone is up for Christmas. It was unexpected but defintely a nice surpirse and a great gift for us. The workers were out in the rain working hard to get it up the last two days. We want to thank Tim Thomas and everyone at Keith Monument for working so hard to get Addison's stone ready to be put up in time for Christmas. It is defintely the best gift for us.
Addison, we miss you terribly and its been very tough this holiday season without you here.
We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Christmas Poem
I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below.
With many lights, like Heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
But the sound of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring.
For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
But I an not so far away, we really aren't apart.
So be happy for me dear ones, you know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus this year.
We love you and miss you so much our sweet baby girl!

Addison Jo Blair Cancer Care and Renal Center
With the press breaking the story in the papers tomorrow morning, we would like to go ahead and share our legacy gift in Addison's honor at Kosair Children's Hospital. We were so fortunate with all the fundraising and help our family received during Addison's journey. After everything was taken care of we had a significant amount of money left over from the fundraising. We decided to take that money and turn it into life insurance policies to be made payable upon our death. This was a great way to take one gift and turn it into something much, much bigger. We felt obligated to use that money in a way that everyone would be proud of and feel a part of. The money raised by YOU made this policy as a gift possible. We want everyone to know that this is not only a gift from us but essentially this is a gift from everyone who gave during Addison's courageous fight. We thank you and hope you take pride in the Addison Jo Blair Cancer Care and Renal Center at Kosair Children's Hospital.
